The Amcor PLM14000E portable air conditioner is designed to condition an average-sized room up to 400 sq. ft. Patented Evaporative Booster Technology - During the cooling process, water is extracted from the air as it passes through the unit. Most of this water is used to cool the unit and make it run more efficiently. This unit has a built-in water tank (not removable) with a drain outlet. When the tank fills, the compressor stops running. This indicates that the tank should be emptied. Included with the unit is a window mounted exhaust kit. AC must be vented via exhaust hose and window kit (included). If your room has a heat source such as direct sunlight or computer servers, the AC coverage area may be reduced.

I've used this A/C unit for 3 years. Other reviewers complain that it trips the circuit breaker. It's never done to me ever. Never tripped it's own built in circuit breaker, never tripped the building's breaker. I'll turn it on at 8am and off at 7pm when the cool breese starts and it runs just fine. As for removing water, there is a little hose you hook up to the a/c unit and run it inside the white 4" exhaust hose. The water is blown out the window - It's totally automatic. There's no need to empty the unit manually. Never had a leak.
The exhaust hose does get hot and radiates heat into the room, so I got some insulation designed for a hose from Home Depot. Heat is retained in the hose and blown out the window.
Noise - it does get noisy and when talking on the phone your friends know when the A/C is on. But, I can watch TV with it on, just turn up the volume.
The window bracket cracked by the hole where the hose plugs in. 1/4" wooden dowel and hot melt glue gun to the rescue! Glued dowel to both sides of the hole, Now it's stronger than stock.

I have used this A/C for one year, and I love it. If there is too much humidity, then the A/C will turn off. After I emptied the water tray; it works perfectly. I have had to empty the water about four times over the last year, so it is a great product!

Unit worked for 2 months. I ran it only at night. It started to make a rattling sound and went dead. Called Amcor customer service. I was told someone would called me in 3-4 business days. Meanwhile it is 114 degrees in the desert. I was contacted in that time frame. They determined that the unit would have to be replaced but I had to pay $90.00 for shipping of the new unit and return of the broken unit. New unit arrived in 5 days. It does not work! This is on a Thursday. It is 110 in the desert. I called customer service and they tell me that the error code it is giving me can be reprogramed. Some one will call me by 2:30pm that day or 9am Friday. No calls ever come. It is now the following Tuesday and still no calls. I have called everyday. Customer support says they are sorry. They have refered my case to their corporate office to have someone call me as they do not have the information to reprogram my unit. They don't care that it will be 108 here again today. I should have just bought a Sears model

We ordered this back in 2006 and didn't have luck with the unit either. One key thing that made the decision on not to use this unit was that it made our aluminum window frames hot. Not sure what this would do to our house we decided to send it back. WAY TOO HIGH OF STOCKING FEE that we decided to try and sell it on our own. Don't purchase this unit.

Not to disrespect the other reviewers here - I understand that some products work well in some situations and not in others.
For my own experience, this has been a great purchase, none of the problems others have reported. I've had it for 3 years now (my building is a bit slow to switch from hot/cold for central air) and it's been great, no leaking, no electrical problems, just very reliable, cold air. In fact I'm on here right now buying a 2nd one.
