This Evaporative Air Cooler, Humidifier, Air Filtration and Fan with Ionizer is versatile and an economical way to cool and humidify the surrounding air. Designed with micro computer control system, this unit can lower surrounding temperature and humidify the air through the principal of water evaporation. The Cooler easily rolls from room to room with lockable casters. This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers, to evenly distribute refreshing cool air. The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction, a reaction that consumes heat, so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was in the air. An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the current room temperature! This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. The unit works well in dry climates; not very effective in areas with high humidity as the unit utilizes water to cool.

This is a complete waste of money. All it is is an oversizer, poor quaility fan. I am only going to use it during the winter as a humidifier.

I see many negative reviews here, so I wanted to post a positive one. I work at a stage door on B'way and have no AC whatsoever once the door to the stage is closed. My friend has lent me her SPT cooling system and it makes all the difference in the world! I haven't had any "leaking problems" (that other reviewers have reported.) It's quiet--which is essential so that the show is not disturbed. The 3 speed & "swing" function is great because it doesn't blow directly on me the whole time. As long as I've got ice in the bottom drawer, it stays pretty cool in here. I also appreciate the wheels on the bottom to make transferring and storing it easily. All in all, for what its worth, I couldn't be happier!

This product was not what I expected. I realized that this was not going to have the cooling power of an A/C, but I at least expected it to be a little bit cooling. This is pretty much a bigger more expensive fan. I filled the unit with water, ice and the ice packs included and I never felt the air coming from it any cooler. Unfortunately, the store I purchased it from does not take returns on coolers and I would have to return it to the manufacturer. I would have to pay return shipping fees and the manufacturer charges a 15% restocking fee...not worth it. So, looks like I'm stuck with it and now $100 short because of it. I just use it as a fan now, at least it works for that. I suggest you save your money up and buy a portable A/C instead. It will be a better investment.

I purchased this expecting to make the room slightly cooler at the very least I expected it to work as described.
However it doesn't make the room any cooler than a low powered fan using the lowest settings. I did everything as instructed and even bought a bag of ice to put in the water tray and still... not much cooler if cooler at all really than a low powered fan you can buy for $10 I can't recommend that ANYONE for ANY reason EVER buy this product.

Well if I could give a rating of less than 1 star I definatly would, the output is warm to hot air unless of course you dump a 5 pound bag of ice in the tray and some water, the highest setting is less powerful than the lowest setting on a $20 fan. A total waste of money, you need to be seated within 1 to 3 feet away from it to feel any kind of air from it. DONT waste your money on this junk.
