The auto evaporation function allows continuous use without the inconvenience of having to remove the water. It has six different settings – you can choose between three cool settings and three fan speeds. Keep your home’s humidity levels down with the dehumidification function, which will also help prevent mold from growing on surfaces inside your home. The unit provides extra convenience with the remote control and the 24-hour on/off timer. The EnviroClean coil prevents oxidation and rust to help maintain clean air in your home. Well, I have Anderson casement windows, so I have this unit hooked up to my upstairs bedroom in which I installed a dryer vent in the bottom, corner of the room for easy removal of the warm exhaust, without the unsightly supplied adapter for the window and then how do you seal the rest of the open window...plexiglass??. The only problem was the dryer vent is 4" and the supplied exhaust hose is 5", so your going to need duct tape if this is your approach too- this unit is actually replacing another unit that had a 4" hose. Anyway, not having to remove the water is awesome, as it was previously a complete PITA! It cools fairly well and blows strong, but a 9k unit would do a better job for sure as the room is approx 13x18 with a small connecting bathroom that then leads into a 12x12 room, I guess that asking alot for a 7k unit. I picked this unit up for $125, clearanced at my local supermarket, so it was well worth it. Mine came with 2 remotes? I don't know if it was just luck? Also, the unit can do double duty as a 70 pint dehumidifier, that's about as good as any humidifier that I know of gets, but YOU'RE going to have to figure out how it drains all that water! BTW the 9k unit has gotten excellent reviews, so I was surprised that this one has gotten mediocre one, but if you look shipping damage is not the fault of this unit's manufacturer. Haier warranty's this unit's components for 5 years, 1 year labor. Hope this helps someone out there?

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What's more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.
This was every internet buyer's nightmare!

This is the third portable A/C I've had, so I knew a lot of what to expect. Pretty noisy, yeah. Was planning on not using the remote, but the first reviewer was right, it's required! I've got it set nice & low, in case the remote breaks!
The worst part is the packaging! There is NO BOTTOM to the box, just a piece of styrofoam secured by plastic straps! UPS damaged the package so bad that they sent it back before I ever saw it. Had to wait another 10 days for J&R to ship another one. Second one arrived and UPS had inverted the box, otherwise the styrofoam would have fallen out the bottom between the straps, because it was in pieces!
But it works! Puts out good cold air. Shoots it off to the side, for some reason, you have to turn the unit to get the air where you want it.

I bought this product two days ago. I live in upstate New York and the humidity can be deadly. The first day the remote worked and I was very excited. Yesterday, the remote did not work and today I put new batteries in it. Guess what? It still doesn't work. Without the remote you cannot do anything but turn it on. You can't change the temperature, you can't change the function, you can't change the speed at which the air comes out, you simply cannot do anything. I called the 800 number and was told that the remote was on BACKORDER for 30-90 days! 30-90 days!! Summer and the heat will be over by then! When asked why this was, the answer was that the product needs to be shipped from CHINA and that in order for the 30-90 days to begin, they had to have my proof of purchase first! We all know that large corporations take several days to several weeks to process anything, so to add this on top of the fact it takes that long makes me never want to purchase another Haier product again. My suggestion is that you do the same with customer service like this.

A couple points
1.Its not as noisy as i thought it would be
2.I love the fact that i dont have to drain the unit, it has an evaporation feature
3.The window assembly will need a little of your imagination, plus they dont send enough screws so some duct tape will come in handy
4.The remote is a nice touch
5.The timer function is great cause it helps my energy bill
Overall its a good product.
