Purchased item the middle of 2008. Due to pleasant weather did not use it until 2009. In 2009 it worked for 2 months then failed. The warranty period was about out but they sent a new unit after I returned the original. It worked for 2 months then failed. They would not return my email or phone calls. I cannot find a source for buying parts if I can determine the problem. It's a couple of hundred dollars down the drain. I should have researched more before buying it. I see on the internet that there are many complaints against this group and some have filed claims with the CA States attorney.

My parents live in Arizona and they constantly complain about the dry heat in the summer. I bought this evaporative swamp cooler for them hoping that it would work (these air coolers aren't really useful for areas with high humidity, but they're supposedly fabulous for really dry places). I had it shipped to my parents and they have been raving about it ever since. It's pretty compact, works really well, and is obviously way less expensive to operate than their central air conditioner. Would definitely recommend this product to others.

paid over $200 for newair AF-350 evaporative cooler. got it a week or so before our july heat wave, so I did not start using it right away.
when I did start using it, it did not blow cold air when I put unit on "cool". Read owner's instructions and said I may need to put in a teaspoon of dishwater soap or fabric softner for the wick to start absorbing water.
I did this just this past Friday with the dishwater soap and it started working like a champ for that evening and part of saturday. Then it stopped
spewing cold air. added another teaspoon of dish soap, no luck. Took out all filters, wick is very wet. Emptied unit, refilled with some dish soap, still no luck.
contacted newair company, they have not tech support, so I need to fill out a return form (wonder how much that is going to cost me) for a replacement unit.
as just a plain fan, it puts out alot of air.
Don't but this unit.
