Yes, you have to remove the case to put your Iphone in this holder but this is about the only downside. It is adjustable, holds the phone reliably in a perfect position. What else would you want? Great value for the money!





(And to follow up with some discussion on which cars would/would not work with this one: I have a Volkswagen Rabbit.)

This mount is made of small plastic parts. Based on where many airbags are located in modern cars I am concerned that bits of this thing could end up in an eye or cause other serious injury in the event of an airbag deployment.


I am also worried about scratching or even breaking an air vent louver. I have elected not to use it.

This iPhone car holder is more sturdy than my previous generic model, which broke after just a couple of months of use, and didn't cost much more. It clips tightly into the vent of my Volvo V70 and holds the phone firmly without scratching it. Not compatible with most iPhone cases, but I was aware of that in advance.

I bought this cradle about 3 - 4 months ago and it works fine. It's strong and fits nicely in the air vent and hold the phone firmly. One caveat: mine came with little rubber pads on the curved brackets that secure the phone. The cradle barley fits an iphone without any sleeve on it and the addition of the rubber creates instability. It allows the phone to pop out of the cradle and on to the floor of your vehicle. Take the pads off the curved brackets and the phone is snug as a bug in rug.

Been using this with great success for 3 months (I have an '88 Camry).





Holds the phone very securely and keeps it well-positioned.





Only problem is the rubber boot on the top clip that holds the iphone has split, so the phone is now susceptible to scratches when inserting/removing. I'm going to see if I can get a replacement from Arkon or come up with a DIY fix....if not, this limits the useful life of this accessory. Four stars for now...





UPDATE:





I emailed Arkon through their website and they promptly sent me two of the rubber boots for the top piece, free of charge. Five stars!
