There are several problems with this vacuum that makes it an inferior product.
1) The suction on the bottom is not strong so it does not pick up larger bits of dirt well. The suction on the hose is fine but I am not using that to vacuum the entire house.
2) The sliding device that holds the dirt cup in place is loose and does not secure the cup tightly. Twice while just vacuuming normally it came loose which causes the dirt to enter the filter area. I had to tape the sliding handle.
3) The machine is not designed well for carpets as it does not roll smootly over them. Meanwhile when running it over my new bamboo floor, it left a few scratches.
4) The knob to adjust the height does not really adjust anything (perhaps explaining #3).
I did not experience the shocks that other people mentioned but perhaps that's because I didn't use it enough because I got tired of the above problems.
In summary, my old cleaner from the 80's did a better job than this product.

I bought this Bissell for our 2nd home. Thing thing I noticed first is how light weight it is. I could use this one at my home where I have stairs! It seems to have great suction and is easy to use.

I bought Bissell 82H1 Cleanview helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner through Amazon.
When vacuuming carpets, I was surprised to found very poudery dusts had been sucked up, which I couldn't at all with my old vacuum cleaner.
I was satisfied with its vacuum capacity. But when I plugged out the plastic pipe from the body to put a small brush and started cleaning up our carpeted stairs, the brush on the body was still running and vacuumed air with dusts were coming out from the hole of the cleaner body which the plastic pipe was plugged in. My left arm and shoulder got dirty with the dusts. In addition, when I tried to clean up the vacuum clear's plastic dust cup and some filters inside, the poudery dusts were blow off to the air and it became messy with dusts. Very hard to clean up the dust bag(cup) and filters without being mess up with dusts. This product is cheap and I am not sure whether those problems are found only in cheap models of Bissell products. But I was quite disappointed at my first Bissel product. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I purchased this vacuum about 6 weeks ago so now I figure that I've used it enough to write a review.
I love it!
It is very powerful, sucks up dust and dirt that I didn't even realize was there. Works very well on hard tile floors and rugs. It is very easy to adjust the brushes for the different floor types.
The attachments are great, especially the turbo brush which i find myself using all the time. I can clean up dust and cat hair in seconds with this: from the sofa, pet beds, my bed and even lampshades!
Super easy to empty too. I empty the canister after every use- its nearly always full and I cleaned the filters and canisters today for the first time. It was very simple to remove each one, then just wash them in warm water and leave to dry before reinstalling.
On the down side, this vacuum is a little heavy and won't get into tight places like my old one.. but that was a Dirt Devil PowerStick so maybe it's not a fair comparison.
The hose can be a little cumbersome to clip back into place after switching from an attachment as it tends to get tangled up with the power cord but you get used to it.
Overall, I am very very pleased. It is a powerful vacuum with plenty of useful attachments for a very reasonable price. It even looks good. My husband likes the color..so maybe he'll feel like using it soon!
