The Edv-2200 is the most recient addition to the Eva-dry line. Using the same "Peltier" technology as the Edv-1100 (its smaller counter part) , it quietly absorbs moisture at a much more effective rate, as well as from a larger area. Once the Edv-2200 has reached its capacity, there is an indicator light that will alert you that the resivor needs to be emptied and the unit will turn itself off. This is a perfect item if you are having a hard time dealing with mold or mildew in your bathroom, on your boat or R.V. or in your house.

About the unit:
The unit is not that large which makes it extremely portable.
I got this for my (14x14) bedroom because DampRid wasn't strong enough to do the job.
You notice it pulls out more water at night than in the morning.
Your mileage may vary depending on your humidity. I don't think it's very powerful and wouldn't recommend it if you live in a really muggy area for full time use. Invest in an A/C if that's the case.
General humidity in my area tends to vary between 30% to 90% with a mean of 55% which can cause mold.
Currently it's April so a lot of the rain has dried out, but I expect the product to pull out a lot more moisture during winter/raining seasons. I think it does a decent job for such a small unit and you can't expect it to handle heavy jobs / high humidity for long uses.
The power brick runs really hot as at least 2 other reviewers have mentioned.
I recommend keeping an eye on it or at least off the carpet if you plan to leave it unattended.
In my case I have a small indoor clay vase and propped it horizontally across the edges that way if it melts or shorts out, the brick will drop into the vase and melt there and not start a fire.
The test:
Ran it the first night for 2 hours (8-10pm) and grabbed 2 teaspoons of water.
Power brick was hot.
Second test:
Ran it from 4pm to 10pm and it grabbed 2 more teaspoons of water. Window blinds were open and sunset wasn't till 7:30pm so that might have affected how much water condensation would appear.
Power brick was hot.
Reasons for buying this unit:
Did not want a really loud dehumidifier in the bedroom.
Wanted something somewhat energy efficient esp. during the winter season.
Combat allegens/mold/mildew/humidity
It would get 3 out of 3, but it did not meet wife (who is a light sleeper) approval of quiet.
I can sleep through fire alarms.
2 stars for meeting the above.
1 star for being what it is.
It would've gotten 4 stars if it had an air filter. 5 stars if the brick didn't run so hot.
I'll try to update this review next year after the raining season.
Would recommend this for:
Short time use
Small rooms/bathrooms/closets
Seasonal mildew/mold deterrent.
Would not recommend this for:
People with seasonal allergies (no air filter)
Large spaces (such as basements)
Full time use
Light sleepers

As of March 2010 it appears that the power supply is still a problem. I've had my unit for about a week now. When I first plugged it in, it ran for 7 hours and then stopped for no apparent reason. The light "ON" was still on, but no fan. The power supply was very warm. (The unit runs on about 76 watts DC, so the AC wall current must be converted to DC.) I shut the unit off and unplugged it for an hour. I also slightly propped up the power supply so it was not sitting directly on the floor. Once the power supply cooled down, it turned back on and started working. During the last 7 days I've run it intermittently from 10 to 22 hours at a time. So far it has not stopped working. And it appears to be taking moisture out of the air. It took about 100 hours of operation to fill the 2 liters holding tank. If you have a small space and don't have a huge humidity problem, this may be all you need.

I purchased this unit three months ago and had used it once a week to keep our bedroom humidity low. Left for work last week, and the 12V AC Adapter had melted and burned a hole in my carpet. I contacted Amazon about the situation, and they were extremely helpful in investigating the safety of the product. They didn't find out anything about it being unsafe... but please, be careful when leaving this product unattended and only use when you are home. Make sure to check the adapter periodically, and make sure that it doesn't overheat and melt.

We purchased this item on October 26th, 2009 - received it the first week of November. We chose it to help deal with the condensation in our 30' travel trailer which we are using as our full-time home. Though it did not draw out much water it did draw some and it made a dent in the problem. However, after just four months of use (not continuous) it has quit. We are terribly disappointed as to our knowledge there is nothing out there like it. Given our space restrictions we need a small unit. Bummer Eva-Dry! You have let us down!!

this little machine really works, a lot of water has been extracted from our closet located inside the bathroom. I didn't expect to have so much water per day inside the closet.
