I ordered this to solve a shaky Earthlink connection; cost was half of what they wanted for another low quality product. I called ActionTec to learn what information I would need to configure modem, and then called Earthlink for that information. They were reluctant to help; their feelings were hurt that I had not ordered from them. But eventually I pried the 411 out of them. Turns out this was more than I needed to know; the modem has a built-in wizard that allowed me to choose Earthlink as my provider, so it automatically installed the very same information I had coerced.
But when I plugged my wireless router into the mix, everything went dark. A quick call to ActionTec gave me the generic info I needed for that, with one additional bit of information needed again from - you guessed it - Earthlink. After calling them yet again and having to answer too many questions to get my one question answered, I was finally up and running. Connection once again (finally!) good and solid. Total elapsed time from box to total wireless bliss - maybe as much as thirty minutes.
Experience with Earthlink - 1 star. Experience with ActionTec - 5 stars.

AT&T DSL customer.
I took this out of the box and read the "Quick Start" guide. Plugged in the AC adapter, phone line and modem cable to the router.
Looked at the computer screen and I was online.
My first thought is that "it can't be this easy".
Checked my other computer which is connected through a "wired router" and it was online.
Why can't everything be this simple?
For my connection I don't think this is any faster than the AT&T original modem. Keeping in mind that I am in a rural area with copper wire as opposed to fiber.
Long story short - I couldn't be more pleased.

Easy setup, and I've had this modem for over a month now, no problems. Seems to work great!

Wow, very easy set-up. I too had the ATT supplied Motorola 2210, if you also have one dump it now, and get this product. I saw faster load times and less dropped signals as soon as it was installed. Easy enough for a novice to set-up, but it has lots of router advanced settings you can tweak as well.

Worked good once I got it set up correctly. However, getting tech support was like "pulling eye teeth". I had another brand of wireless router and tech support was VERY reluctant to help me configure the modem and impatient with me. The modem loses connection and I had to press the reset button once but held it down too long apparently and it would not restart. Tech tells me I should not have done that and then silence. I had to ask, "well, what do I need to do to fix it?" He reluctantly gives me instructions. Rather arrogant tech guys, IMHO. I finally got it working on my own but got a new one from AT&T. I boxed the Actiontec back up and put it in the closet as a backup since I know I cannot return it at this point. BTW, no problem whatsoever setting up AT&T modem. Piece of cake!
