I purchased this modem (on the advice of my neighbor) to replace a modem that the cable company provided.
When my current cable service package expired they started charging us a rental fee for the modem, so I decided to buy my own.
We used to have all sorts of interruptions and problems before and now we don't... This new modem is not only faster but so much
more reliable than the old one. Also, it will be able to handle any upgrades to our service as we get them.

After replacing my Linksys cable modem with the Surfboard Extreme, I haven't had one problem. The speed running 4 computers plus 2 game systems has not slowed in the least. Just plug it in, call your internet provider with the Mac number and your up and running. Wish I would have replaced the old Linksys modem a long time ago. Buy this unit, you won't be sorry.

My old D-Link Cable modem started acting up and losing connection really easy. I have Cox Internet with their 20 Mbps internet and I never seemed to be able to get my max speed out of the internet. So after the D-Link went out I decided to buy this one becasue it had DOCSIS 3.0 and Cox is offering that internet in my area so I am ready for future upgrade of my internet speed. Once I installed this one I have performed some speed tests and I am now getting faster speeds then what I am actully paying for. I highly recommend this modem becasue I noticed a huge different in my internet performance. I highly recommend this modem!

What I really like about this modem is that it is always in technician mode on the cable line so instead of having my paid for 5up and 8 down, I have 5 up and 20-30 down. Works with docsys 3.0 as specified. There are no config options immediately available on the html gui but if youre a real modder, check out [...] to get the most out of this baby
