I bought this router to create a WiFi hotspot in my car, using my AT&T LaptopConnect Card. FYI, it's a Sierra Wireless 885U. (I wanted to include that, since I didn't see any info on what 3g cards were compatible).
There was absolutely no configuration necessary. I pulled it out of the box, attached the antenna, plugged in the air card, and BAM it was online. Obviously I wanted to make it more secure than the default settings, but the out-of-the-box action is quite impressive.
The firmware and configuration screens are straight-forward and easy to use. If you've configured any other router, this one is pretty much the same.
I would recommend this router to anyone wanting to use their 3g card for WiFi.
Word to the wise, though - keep a close eye on your data caps - no one likes a nasty surprise when their cell phone bill comes!

The website the company everyone said that this router would be compatible to my Alltel UM175 USB modem, but I got the router did everything I was told, typed in the numbers needed and still did not work. Email, got a delayed response, called and my tech support person told me to do everything that I had already done and stated he didn't know what to tell me, that it should work. Finally 2 days later I received an email from Zoom tech support where they finally mention that the Zoom router is only compatible with the UM175VM card and not the UM175AL. See they didn't bother to be spectific that only certain UM175 Usb modems would work so it would be nice if they, and every other one of these companied boasting about compatiblity would also be specific and save me some d@*n time and money. Thank you.

Unfortunately I had to return this item, no fault to the seller. The maker (Zoom) claims that this item supports the Sprint 598u mode. I had no such luck on two modems (4501) sent to me. The seller was expedient on exchanging the modem to no avail. I paid next day delivery on the fist shipment, then had to send the first modem back and then the second modem back after an exchange. Overall I paid 48.00 in shipping charges that were lost (almost as much as the modem cost).
I opted to write this review just so others don't fall for the wrong Zoom statement of support for the Sprint 598u modem. The problem could very well be that the 4501 modem does not accept low signal quality (since I live far in the country). The modem is detected, but it never obtains a signal. I have no problems whatsoever with an MBR1000 modem which I had had to purchase after this fiasco.

This is a very useful product. I have been having a problem with AT&T laptop connect software locking up when using a Sierra USB 3G modem. When this happens, you have to reboot the PC to get online again. Same problem when used with laptop or desktop PC. Adding the router solved this problem. Now AT&T problems are no biggie, simply unplug the modem from the router & reinsert, ready to go in seconds (no more PC lockups). Wish it had a tad more range, there may be an external antenna option, haven't checked yet.

I bought this router because I use a Huawei 3G data card internet connection and I wanted to set up a wireless network.The router works great,the working range is wide. It is easy to install. All my wireless accesories work prefectly. Worth the money spent it. I really recommend it.
