As someone who is not great with computer setup type stuff, I was a little worried about buying this modem/router combo instead of the modem my ISP wanted to sell me. But, I'm glad I did because the setup was incredibly easy. Actiontec makes it very simple and gives you step-by-step instructions. I run Linux and had a little trouble getting my computer configured correctly, and the Actiontec customer service was also very helpful (instead of just saying that they couldn't help me because I run Linux). The wireless router works great and I have a strong signal all over my apartment. Overall, if you're thinking about going with a modem/router from your ISP, don't do it! Buy this or another Actiontec product instead.

Works excellently with Verizon DSL in NY. Automated setup, no hangups, steady, reliable connection, Wow, i'm impressed.

I cannot believe how easy this was to set up. I only needed the modem feature and had the ATT settings already in my wireless router so I plugged in all the wires, fired up the computer and it went right onto the Internet without having to do a thing. Unbelievable! This has never happened to me before. I am used to speaking to support for hours just to get anything new to work on my network. Praise God! By the way my router is a D-Link DIR 625 in case you want the same experience.
So far I have not had to reset the modem or router once. I have had it working for 2 hours now. Before I was resetting about every half hour using the motorola junk that comes from ATT.

The installation went well and was straight forward. The auto-setup feature locked up on the first run through. When I re-ran it, the modem setup went quick and ran without any other adjustments.

I got this to replace a 5-year old gateway which finally died. The setup was easy (except for dealing with my provider's "help" line, but this isn't a review of Qwest so I'll leave it at that), and the device has been working fine for a month now.
The one missing feature is that it doesn't have a phone port (which my older device had). If you want to have a land line connected to the same phone jack as the DSL gateway, you need a splitter and a DSL filter, both cheap little things I had around the house, but if you don't have them, you'll need to get them.
