I am sure that I have examined the range of the Amazon before, but for some reason do not see this. I use two of these fans to move air around my Swiss Gear 20x10 tent while camping in Texas. It is made of plastic and like any other plastic that can break if the muscles of their way to ill use, but their use is fairly straightforward. To open the first stage, just pull down the back of the fan in the hinge. Open the battery compartment is fairly simple if you understand the blocking and the average of the lock icon. The fan moves plenty of air and that I have taken lots of abuse was launched in and out on the back of my truck during the past two years. My only complaint with them is the battery compartment is a little hard to come back until you find out exactly how it works, and on high it is an expensive set of D batteries down sucking in 24 hours if you use these a lot, I would strongly recommend a few sets of rechargeable D-cells and a charger, or the model with the built-in battery. I like that this model also with a transformer, which you can use to run it from the 110V power, making campsites with electricity much less of a drain in the wallet! I've rated this a 5 fan, because I think it's the best of its breed. It should not be compared with a cable box fan or something because they do different things with them. But it's windy, it's absolute best of its kind I've tried. I've used various models of Coleman, this thing moves so much air that it's really no comparison. Moore bought this potential power outage due to winter weather here in Missouri, as a couple of years, ice storms seem to touch the power for a week. I use this small fan to help remove air from the room with the fireplace. Read some comments about resistance of a capacitor or explosion. However, so far it has not happened to me. I would suggest, remove the batteries if you use the AC adapter. I do not think this unit is safe when using the AC when the batteries are still on the ventilator. Only advice to others. Otherwise, so far I havnt seem to be any problem yet. It moves a lot more air battery of a small fan. PS alkaline batteries. If you use rechargeable batteries, do not let the fan when using the AC cable. This unit is not to charge the batteries. May 5 people found the following review helpful. Bad battery design / build of the police to quality The battery compartment is poorly designed, if the batteries are inserted, the contact points to touch the batteries properly, so that you squeeze / twist the tray it works I do not recommend this fan if it want to use with batteries.
