Not as good as the previous Vornado compact fans Mike Hall is the new model 530 as good as most of Vornado who established the company as an innovator of quality? In this review, I compare the new 530 to two older compact models that I own. These are the excellent model 180 compact fan (infinite speed, is no longer available) and very good 510 compact (3 speeds and very little - watch the dealers to replace the current model 530510). These (and the larger model, the venerable 280) has great features, quietness, quality and durability. My comments apply to the model 530, regardless of skin color of plastic, since the color does not affect the performance of this product. FEATURES Compact design 3-speed is similar to that of older models (note that some models of Vornado a little more expensive than the infinite speed control instead of three speeds, but they are the same). But the 530 has one major drawback that you miss the promo copies fan head is not as much as in older models tilt. This model is tilted only 50 degrees, while the older fans leaning about 80 degrees. The older design is much better at getting the air from floor to ceiling. CALM IN whirring fan blades as little noise as the older models (whisper low, moderate amount of media, many "whoosh" on high), but the 530 has an annoying engine noise level of the older models don 't have. Because a low frequency sounds, it will even go through walls. QUALITY Personally I think the engine due to noise, may not meet the quality of previous models. One of the fan blades on my 530 still had the plastic of the casting process, which was removed. Definitely a quality control problem. My older models were all produced in the United States than in China (judging from a recent visit to a store that had a number of models of Vornado, the company moved production of most, if not all fans consumer market in their sea) We will see sustainability. It comes with a limited 5 year warranty (you must obtain an RMA number and ship to Vornado in Kansas and other users have complained about shipping costs nearly equivalent to the cost of a new fan). BOTTOM LINE In my opinion, this fan moves away from the Vornado tradition of quality and quietness. I do not recommend using the 530 models in a room or other place where you need quiet due to the noise of the engine low slope. Vornado Scott Pape is well known for producing quality consumer enthusiasts. My 530 will move more air than the fans box a lot bigger. It also moves the air in a more controlled, concentrated fashion, this is great for moving cold air from one room to another. It's also nice for a room ventilation during the night when the noise outside the window to such a question should be opened only ten inches or so. The fan is useful for more than just circulate air through a room. Allows an explosion of intense cold in the light of filmmaking during my cardio workout. It is also good for drying towels and blankets. Despite my continued enthusiasm for the product, I had some problems. The first is the rather high engine noise / vibration at low speeds. Secondly, there was an obvious problem with the first fan I bought. It was dropped on two legs on the carpet padding. It has been one of the fan blades to break. Fortunately, Bed Bath and Beyond is a return policy without any problems. And 'interesting to note that Vornado frequent acute "American Made" in their marketing.
