We just bought a new house and installed this within a couple weeks of moving in. After emptying the hot water heater (by filling the tub until the water was cold), the difference in the water was immediate. We spent the previous month and a half in an apartment with very hard water, which made the change that much more noticeable. I am recommending this to everyone I know.

I have had this installed on my water system for quite sometime now (Maybe a year?)and I really don't notice a difference. I can't say for sure that it does anything.

This is my first review and I typically prefer to read others reports than to write my own but I felt compelled to provide some feedback.
I really wanted this product to work as I do not like having to use a traditional water softener. Once our existing salt based water softener broke I decided to try the Clearwave and see if my wife could tell the difference. I did not tell her about the change and this was truly going to be blind field test. After a couple of weeks my wife asked if there was anything wrong with our softener as she had begun to notice some typical hard water build up. I had to fess up to the change and asked her to give it a few more weeks. I waited the full 90 days but it was clear that the Clearwave did not do the job as well as a traditional water softener. It appeared to not make any difference at all. The hard water stains were readily apparent in the shower and near the sink.
I will very reluctantly go back to a salt based system until some better comes along to replace it.

This did work.. I installed it in the evening and found hte results next day morning. It was fun.. never imagined that this will really work. Started recommending to friends and family and lets see how they find theresults.. i am happy..with time there is difference.. but its ok.. for the price i paid.. i feel happy to have some functionality.. But, how it really works needs soem clarity.. but who cares as long as it works.. i don't really want to know how Edison lighted his bulb..

The water where we live doesn't require a softener to remove iron (don't believe the Clearwave works on iron anyway), but about a year ago we decided to start adding Calgon to the wash in an effort to improve the rinsing (reduce the pilling) of our clothes. Calgon did a great job eliminating the pilling, but at $4.27 a bottle from Walmart the $$$ really added up fast. We were using about 4 bottles of Calgon each week with our Front-loading washer which amounts to almost $100 a month, or more than $1000 a year. This strongly motivated us to look for a less expensive solution.
My wife did some research and was intrigued by the size and low cost of the new generation of water softeners. Years ago when we lived up north, we had the traditional salt type of water softener and we really didn't want to go that route again. We didn't want to hassle with the salt and we never really liked how the water felt. So after I did some additional research, we decided to give the Clearwave Electronic Water Conditioner a try. I'm an Electrical Engineer by training and I was a bit skeptical about this product. But I felt that the idea might have potential and since we bought it through Amazon, we knew there wasn't any risk if we decided to do a return.
We spent about $140 or just about 1 1/2 months of Calgon to buy the unit. It arrived just over 1 week ago and I installed it easily without any problems. I asked my wife to do a load of laundry without using Calgon and to examine how well rinsed the clothes were. You see in the past, if we didn't use Calgon, we had to rinse the clothes many times to eliminate all traces of suds. Calgon greatly reduced/eliminated that problem; and much to our surprise and delight, so did the Clearwave Electronic Water Conditioner! We have also noticed that rinsing our hands now is faster and more complete. Showers are also faster now. Even our dishwasher is working better. We are thrilled!
